The Mall Road, Shimla
The Mall is the chief street in Shimla city which is the capital of Himachal Pradesh in India. Set up during the colonial rule of the British, The Mall is situated a level beneath the Ridge. The workplaces of Fire Service, Municipal Corporation and Police Headquarters are positioned here. Except urgent situation vehicles, motor vehicles are not permitted on this particular road. That is why; the tourists and the locales are time and again found strolling in the dusk on the Mall road. In Shimla, The Mall is the main attraction for tourists because it is a hub to a huge number of food courts, shops, an old heritage theater & also a center of merriment. The Lakkad and the Tibetan bazaar are next to the Mall road.

During evening hours, this entire Mall road looks amazing as the whole place dazzles with different kinds of lights and multitude of people. In Shimla, The Mall is believed to be as Shimla’s heart. The Mall expands from the Barnes court which is in the east direction to the Vice Regal lodge which is in the west direction. The Mall is the place which the tourists must visit in Shimla to experience the true flavor of Shimla.
The Main Places of Attraction Around The Mall are:
Scandal Point – Scandal point is the meeting point of Ridge road and The Mall on the western side. This point is called Scandal Point because of the sensation created by the escape of British Viceroy’s daughter with the Patiala’s Maharaja. For this reason, the British authorities restricted the entrance of the Maharaja to Shimla. The Maharaja then set up a new capital which is presently famous as the Chail hill resort which is nearly 45 kms away from Shimla. The famous feature of that point is the statue of Lala Lajpat Rai, the freedom fighter of India.
General Post Office – This Shimla post office which is situated in The Mall deliver mails by using Tonga, which is an exclusive system.
Kali Bari Temple – This beautiful temple has a statue of deity Kali made up of wood.
Christ Church – This Christ Church is believed to be the 2nd archaic church of North India.
