Goa Beaches
Goa attracts tourists for its breaches, beaches and beaches of spectacular look making everywhere beautiful either north or south. Though it has many historical places but the tourists are crazy for its splendid beaches.
The beauty of Goa is jacketed by number of beaches and a few of them are.
· Palolem Beach –South Goa: this is often called Paradise beach of Goa as it is so beautiful. The beach is famous for water sports like boat cruises, diving, and bike tours. It is about 43 kms from Madgaon. Tourist or State Govt Buses ply regularly.
· Agonda Beach – South Goa: Its isolated location among beaches makes it more silent, peaceful and beautiful for attracting tourist across the world. It is just 15 minutes’ drive from busy Palolem beach also buses are available from Canacona , Chaudi and Margao.
- Baga Beach – North Goa: One of the attracted and busiest beach for romantic tourists in Goa. The beach is famous for delicious food and the water sports. The tourists are on the beach day and night. Mainly go for swimming and water sports during daytime and during the night, the spectacular nightlife facilities make tourist sizzling and romantic along with candle light dinner. It is about 16 kilometers from Panaji and 9 kilometers from Mapusa. Frequent bus services are available. Thivim is the nearest railway station to enjoy rail service.
- Dona Paula Beach – North Goa : Dona Paula is one of the sensational tourist spot in Goa and closed to Panaji, 7 km away. The beach is named after Dona Paula de Menzes, daughter of a Viceroy who threw herself off the cliff, when refused permission to marry a local fisherman, Gaspar Dias. It is well connected by road. Regular taxi and bus services are compatibly available. National Oceanographic Institute is set up near the beach.
- · Calangute beach – North Goa : It is often titled as ‘Queen of the Beache’ and the largest among North Goa beaches. 13 km away from Panaji and 8 km from Mapusa. Both bus and rail services are available from Thivim, Margao and Vasco da Gama.
· Anjuna Beach Goa: Varieties of people including Monks, artists, travelers and honeymooners are on Anjuna beach. It is only 8-km west of Mapusa. It is famous for the excellent western seafood and fresh fruits and green coconuts. One of the most romantic beaches is famous for nightlife with night long beach parties and festivities.
Suitable time to visit:
The peak tourist season for any beach is during Christmas and New Year. From October to February is ideal for sea beaches, sightseeing and enjoying water sports.
Summer 23 to 40°C, winter 15 to 33°C;
Goa offers a pleasant climate and can be visited all through the year. But the most suitable time is from October to June.
Summer (March to May) is hot in Goa but the sea breeze offers solace to the heat. The maximum temperature reaches up to 40°C.
Winter (October to February) offers pleasant weather and is a peak season for tourists and festivities. The minimum temperature goes down to 15°C. Sea beaches, sightseeing and water sports can be best enjoyed during this time.
Monsoon (June to September) offers heavy to medium rainfalls. Sea bathing is prohibited.
March to May is warm, with less crowds and this period is ideal for those seeking for some quiet and peaceful moments far away from the city life.
