Ranthambore National Park-Rajasthan
One of the most exquisite and largest National Parks in northern India, the Ranthambore National Park is situated in Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan. It is located at a distance of 130 km from Jaipur, the state capital. Ranthambore National Park is spread over an area of 392 sq km and is also one of India’s Project Tiger Reserves.
The Ranthambore National Park is very famous worldwide for its tigers. It is considered to be one of the best places in India to view freely roaming tigers in the jungle. The experience of watching majestic predator freely wandering in front of your eyes can not be expressed in worlds.
Every year thousands of tourists visit the park to have a sight of the free roaming Indian Tiger.
Apart from the population of majestic tigers in the region the other wild animals in the Park include Leopard, Nilgai, Wild boar, Hyena, Sloth Bear, Chital and Sambar. Diverse varieties of trees are also found in the Park area – it has one of the largest numbers of Banyan tress in India. There is also a huge population of Dry Deciduous trees in the region and around 539 species of flowering plants are found in the region.
The best time to visit the park is between the period of October to June. During this time it is very easy to spot tigers here. Toursists can enjoy the safaris and hiking within the park area under the supervision of a guide.
There are very good hotels in and around the park. Rajasthan Tourism also provides stay facilities to the tourists at reasonable rates and high quality. Nahar Haveli, Vinayak, Oberoi Vanyavilas are some of the most sought out hotels by the tourists in the Park area.
The nearest airport to the Ranthambore National Park is at Jaipur. Closest railway station is at Sawai Madhopur, which is only at a distance of 11 km from the National Park. The park is well connected by road to all major cities of the Rajasthan.
