Corbett National Park
Located in the hilly state of Uttarakhand, Corbett National Park is one of the most visited wild life reserves in India. The Corbett National Park is considered as one of the most beautiful Wildlife Reserves, which spreads over an area of 521 sq km in the foothills of the great Himalayas. The park was established as Hailey National park in 1935 but renamed to Corbett National Park in remembrance of Jim Corbett – a British environmentalist in 1957. It is situated at a motorbale distance of 50 km from Ramnagar town.
The world famous Corbett National Park is endowed with assorted varieties of flora, fauna and avifauna.
The Park is very famous amid wildlife lovers across the world for the population of tigers and its main prey in form of four types of deer. In addition, Himalayan Palm Civet, Elephant, Wild Boar, Red Jungle Fowl, Indian White Backed Vulture, Porcupine and other animal species are found within the extensive boundaries of the Corbett National Park.
In total, around 110 tree species, 50 mammal species, 580 bird species and 25 reptile species are found in the Corbett National Park. The park also has dense forest cover that includes Teak, Sal, Oak Birch and many other varieties.
There are excellent accommodation facilities for the tourists in form of rest houses, resorts and hotels all around the place and within the park too.
