For a royal experience on your romantic expedition the place to be is Udaipur. Referred to as the “Most Romantic Cities of India” the town is situated in the heart of the Aravalli Mountains. Historically it was the capital of the princely state of Mewar, and that’s the reason why it is lush with palaces all around, and why there are several forts that dot the city.

The landmark of Udaipur is the City Palace that was built by Maharana Udai Singh. It is situated on the eastern banks of Lake Pichola and leaves all visitors awed with its splendor and majesty. Known as the city of lakes and palaces, the main attractions of the town include, Amar Vila, Badi Mahal, Durbar Hall, Fatehprakash Palace and many other smaller forts that line the town.

The most popular lakes in the town are the Fateh Sagar Lake and the Pichola Lake around which most of the important tourist centers are located. Other than this one can also visit the Udaipur Solar Observatory, temples, and various museums as well.

To make the trip more memorable and adventurous, you can try a Camel ride. Also, there is an option to hire a Bicycle, or a motorbike to explore the town on your own. Foreigners also like to try the rickshaw ride that takes them on a rather slow pace across the town. The choice is yours.

Summers in Udaipur can be quiet harsh, and so not many romance seeker would like to boil down to the simmering temperatures. Winters are mild, and probably the best time come here and stroll around the parks of palaces and forts.

Another thing that couples should not leave the town without a try is the local Rajasthani food. Udaipur serves one of the best daal batti choorma, gatte-ki-sabzi, kachori, mirchi bada, and many other local dishes that you can get at both roadside shacks, and also at some of the most exquisite restaurants.

Reaching Udaipur is not difficult. The Maharana Pratap Airport is situated just 24 km from the city. If road is your choice, there are plenty of buses that ply throughout the day. Also, numerous trains ply to the town from all major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmadabad, Jaipur and others.
