Lakshadweep Islands
Secluded from the mainland of Indian, Lakshadweep islands are an exotic archipelago in the Arabian Sea. The pristine coral reef destination is not only considered as one of the most romantic places in India, but it is actually world renowned for its natural lagoons, amazing clear silver beaches and sizzling sea food.
Lakshadweep in its essence is made of two words, laksha, meaning lakh, and dweep, meaning islands. It consists of 10 inhabited islands and 17 islands with no habitation, along with several islets, 5 submerged reefs and four newly found islets.
For romance seekers this place is a perfect bliss. If you two are more reclined and want to enjoy a quiet holiday with one another, the best way is to take a boat ride to the natural lagoons and reefs and also Bangaram and Agatti. For adventurous couples, there is snorkeling, paragliding and diving.
While hotels are in plenty at the island, what is most romantic is the beach cottages from which you can see miles of the beach lined with beautiful palm trees, and experience the cool see breeze playing with your face. The sand and the beaches are quiet clean and serene. Building castles of sand, or simply basking in the sun, it all gives an excellent ambiance to spend a few romantic days with each other.
The local people of Lakshadweep are mostly from Kerala. Their lifestyles, food habits, and culture are very similar to that of Kerala. One thing that you shouldn’t miss is the fresh coconut water that you can find at random road side shacks.
Getting here by flight is not difficult. Air Indian runs 6 flights a week From Kochi. Before this there were flights available from Goa as well, but now they’ve been terminated.
Since the distance from Kochi is around 400km, one can also choose to come here by ship, which takes somewhere between 16 and 18 hours.
