Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Stunning beautiful, the virgin land of Andaman and Nicobar Islands is one of the most romantic place for all those seeking a pleasurable and romantic sojourn. A collection of nearly 600 islands in the Bay of Bengal, only 9 of these are open to foreign tourists.

Originally the islands were occupied by aboriginal tribes. They still remain one of the remotest destinations in the country, and therefore have even more appeal to all the romantic people, who’d love to sit in the shade of the drooling palms and coconut trees.

Historically also the islands have been of great importance to India. Many famous Freedom fighters had been imprisoned here including the legendary Bhagat Singh. This is the reason why the Cellular Jail is the most frequented tourists’ attraction of the town of Port Blair, the capital of Andaman and Nicobar.

If spending quality time together is the thing to do, walking around the town is a good option. You can also take the autorickshaw or even hire a motorbike and explore the various wonders of the town on your own.

Two must so activities in the town are to take Boat tours from Port Blair and go for snorkeling. The boat trip generally takes you to three places Ross, North Bay and Viper. The second thing i.e. snorkeling at Jolly Buoy can also be a one day activity. You first go to Wandoor, and then take a ferry to Jolly Buoy.

For now the only way of reaching the islands is by air. Regular flights fly to Port Blair from Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai. The tickets are generally cheaper than flying to anywhere else in India, and advance booking can further save you more.

Alternately if you have some 4 days to travel to Port Blair, you can also take a ship from Kolkata, Vishhakapatnam and Chennai.
