By Air/Flight

The nearest are Chandigarh airport and Jubberhatti airport also called shimla airport

Jubberhatti airport airport is at a distance of 73 kms from kufri but it has only 2-3 flights in a day from Delhi and chandigarh. Moreover weather plays an important role here . if the weather is not clear flights can be cancelled and you have to look for alternate arrangement. You have to hire a taxi from Jubberhatti to Chail.

Other nearest airport to Chail is Chandigarh airport. You can arrive at Chandigarh airport which is just 135 kms and after that you can take a taxi/ bus and enjoy your journey by seeing the panoramic beauty of hills till Chail.

Almost all the major air carriers have flights to Chandigarh airport from delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai etc.

By Train/Rail

The nearest railway stations are Chandigarh railway station at a distance of 135 kms and kalka railway station at distance of 85 kms  and other one is amabala railway station at a distance of 160 kms. Kalka Railway station and Chandigarh railway station has good connectivity of trains from all the major cities. Every train which reaches kalka passes through Chandigarh railway station.

There are no direct trains to Chail . The trains reaches till shimla and after that you have to hire a taxi from shimla to Chail.

To catch train for shimla you have to arrive at kalka railway station from Where small trains like motor car,  toy train, himalyan queen are available. Costing started from Rs 250. It takes aroung 5-6 hours from kalka to shimla by train.

It is advisable for the visitors to plan their holiday at least one month before the date of travel if you are looking forward to travel by train. There are only 4-5 trains daily for shimla but no much passengers can be accommodated in these trains so try to book at least one month before the date of travel.  For booking you can visit Indian railway official website

By Bus

There are only 4-5 buses daily directly to chail from Chandigarh. There are no direct buses to chail from Delhi. Other option is that Firstly take bus for shimla and Shimla is very well connected with other parts  of country. Luxury and normal buses are being run by Himachal pardesh Transport corporations and these buses are easily available from Delhi and Chandigarh.  Apart from other major transporter like Haryana and Punjab are also running regular daily buses to shimla.  It will take approximately 4 hours from Chandigarh to shimla by bus and 9-10 hours from Delhi to shimla. Shimla to Chail distance is 52 kms and  travel time is approximately one and half hour by bus.

By Taxi/Cab.

Convenenient way to reach Chail is by taxi. Taxi costs around Rs 2000 for small car like indica. Taxis are easily available from Chandigarh or kalka or ambala and after that take a taxi from there to reach Chail. From Chandigarh it is 4 hours drive and from Delhi it is 9 hour time.  Road to shimla are narrow but is well maintained by the Himachal government and it is a memorable experience to have drive to chail by taxi watching all the beautiful hills.
